as the title says, would a 2 1/2" twin exhaust cat back be any good for these cars.

would it improve or degrade the tone

would it improve or degrade the performance

would it improve or degrade the economy

would this exhause set up be any good at all, or is it only for dunnydore v6 owners that want to make their car sound better???

I really have no idea on exhausts, so any help would be appreciated

a mandrel bent twin 2.5" is a very good replacement for the oem unit (which is very good itself) there is someone running 350rwkw through a redback cat back, and they are ~$400 on ebay

checked out those exhausts.

what sort of difference would I be looking at in regards to power / economy / tone of the car if I used that exhaust?

the power gain isn't going to be that big unless the car is tuned to take advantage of it, similar situation regarding fuel economy. The noise obviously will be louder and deeper, but not too LOUD! The biggest restriction is the standard CAT and mufflers. Considering you already have the centre muffler removed, a bigger high flow cat and a retune will go well, but the standard rear muffler will be a bottle neck, so the cat back system will be a nice moderate upgrade :hiwelcome:

thanks for the reply, exactly the information I was after, im really just chasing a better tone for the T, im pretty much at the limits of what I want to get out of power and economy isnt really a big deal, but I will probably get injectors and turn the boost down a bit maybe.

thanks again

I was thinking about getting a redback system and a hi flow cat fitted as well, one because it is cheap and I love my quiet car at the moment and im hoping the redback wont be too loud and I would think it should increase flow a fair bit over standard.

Just had the 2.5" fitted today. It's a lot quieter than what I had previously (rear muffler had shat itself) and the car seems to come onto the power quicker. It has a nice deep rumble on idle but nothing over the top and when cruising at 100 clicks I could hardly hear it.

Edit: The twin chrome tips out the rear end look so much better :tonguepoke:

Hey Skooby, what brand did you get? Or was it a custom jobbie? How much? Where from?

I was looking at the Red Back systems. Had one on the old car, and it was plenty loud and gave good power for the $180 it cost me fitted...

Anyone have one on their T, any good or bad comments to do with power and sound??

Cheers Mike
