Just an update since I've had it tuned,

Tune.jpg

Jim has done a fantastic job on the tune. Fantastic wad of torque everywhere. Does not feel laggy at all. Very responsive at just about any speed. And a nice peak figure well within the comfort levels of the cars standard clutch and gearbox.

Just posting to share some footage from the track day I attended on Sat with the wrx. :w00t2:

Couldn't take the XR6 as my option 3 clutch is away getting rebuilt. :bangcomputer:

And here's a link to the times for anyone interested. I was car #44. Roughly the top 20 cars were on slicks... Except one. ^_^

Very similar vintage to my STi... same colour.

I gave it to Jim to tune last month, and he did a compression test and found inconsistent cylinder pressures, so it's going back to the engine builder, as it's a near new motor.

Very nice Brian. It's like looking at a picture of my thoughts. My wife (it's her car) wants to get the sti wing. I already have the front lip, that will be colour coded. I want the foglight covers, just without the sti stickers on them. And I also want the 02 sti rims. Your car is just about exact to how I want ours to look. :omg:

Good luck with the engine. It's no surprise Jim the perfectionist picked up the issue. :icon_ford:

was that a bit of flamage comin out your exhaust pipe?? :omg: bloody tuff! no cat??

Haha, yeah, just a little bit. :spit:

And no, not catless. But after seeing how much flame I got, I don't think the cat is going to last long with all that fuel going through it. :icon_ford:

Well, after telling myself I was done modding the rex, I've gone and modded the rex some more.

Went down to Just Japanese at Lansvale to pickup a foglight for the rex, and spotted an STi strut brace sitting in their display. Adam, great chap, offered it to me for a price I couldn't refuse. So went home with both.

Adam also pointed out a set of HKS coilovers, again for a great price. Wasn't interested at the time but after going home and thinking about it for a week, I went back and grabbed them too.

The brace has been in for over a week, and wow, what a difference.

Picked the coilovers up on Thursday and fitted them that night.

Even at their softest setting the car is quite stiff. Maybe too stiff... :roflmbo:

But, I've raised the car a little higher than the lowered King Springs which has made the car much more liveable around speed hump infested car parks. And I've been able to solve some rubbing issues I had with tyre on guard by bringing the camber in a bit.

So, overall quite happy with these 'unplanned' mods. Can't wait to get back to Wakefield to see what sort of improvements I've made.
