Thought I'd post up some pics of my 99 WRX (actually, it's the wifes... If she asks)

It's a MY99 Club Spec Evo3

The Club Specs are Australian delivered limited edition models.

The Evo3 was limited to 150 cars, and is based on a standard WRX with the following:

- Exclusive colour, Blue Steel Metallic. (STI colour)

- Colour coded mirrors, skirts, door handles

- Gold alloys (We bought this car with aftermarket alloys. I wish it had the standard gold rims)

- 22B style blue Alcantara and jersey interior

When we bought it, it was completely stock minus the rims and a GFB Atomic Boost controller. (Which was installed the wrong way around, limiting boost to 7psi instead of the standard 13.)

First thing I did was to install an autometer boost gauge to see what the boost was doing, then I set the boost controller (after fixing the install) to about 15psi.

Next I made my own CAI to replace the factory airbox. I had a 3" Unifilter Rampod laying around from my old XR6T ute, and various bits of silicon and 3" aly. Taking the idea from Kevin's (Process West) CAI, the filter resides inside the drivers side guard, behind the grill in the front bar. With 3" piping feeding to the AFM. Works a treat.

Next, the wife wanted the BOV to make that infamous noise you hear from all the WRXs around the Liverpool area ( <_< ). So I bought a GFB Hybrid BOV.

She also wanted the shift to feel like my XR6 (Ripshift). So I bought a GFB short shifter at the same time, and set it to it's shortest throw. Feels great.

For peace of mind I also installed a Walbro 500HP intank pump.

The car remained at this point for a couple of months, and drove well.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to get in and get some things done.

First I sourced a set of second hand King Spring SL front and rear, and installed them. This dropped the car to a sensible height. Not too low, not too high. The ride has firmed up a bit, but it was already firm to begin with. Body roll has been greatly reduced. And the car looks great.

Then last week all the GOOD bits turned up.

- VF28 turbo I sourced second hand. This is the standard turbo of a V5/V6 STI. Gives much better spool over the standard TD04L (500rpm most say), and greater top end. A versatile turbo that I chose so as not to lose the cars impressive responsiveness down low, but also gives that little bit more up top.

- 3" Turbo back exhaust. Stainless. With cannon muffler. (I know, I know. But it's a JAP car, and the wife wanted the cannon)

- Silicon Intake. What a bastard thing to install.

- Process West TMIC. By far the best top mount intercooler available for the GC8 WRX.

I've set the boost back to a stock 13psi, and the difference to before with 15psi is astonishing. With this gear installed, the car's performance has improved markedly. Throttle response is superb. Mid range is very very strong. And it just pulls all the way to redline. And it hasn't even been tuned yet.

And that's all that is left to do. It will be making a visit to Jim at Tunehouse for a Haltech install and tune.

I expect close to 200awkw after a tune, and mid 12s @ 106mph down the 1/4.

And I expect it will take the fight to my XR6 at Wakefield :leghump:

BEAST

Without a doubt the best shape WRX. Pete Luxon from APS's mechanic Rob took me out in the APS UNICHIP MY99 STi which had 242awkw about 5 years ago. That thing made the skin on your face flap.

200+ kw WRXs are off the hook. Props to your wifey for hooting around in that beast! :leghump:

We get around mate

Long story. Lived in Townsville for 5 yrs. Wife was still living there last year. She was a used car salesperson. Bought the car from her yard in Townsville. We drove it to Cairns the weekend we picked it up.
