Hi guys,

Just after some opinions before I proceed.

I have some quotes to fit a new 3.5" exhaust from the turbo back for my ute, just wondering what you guys think would be the better option and bang for buck.

I can get a locally sourced Xforce system for $1,800 installed but it will be a 3 week wait.

OR

I can get a custom made one for $1,450 installed, made out of mild steel and it can be done next week.

What are the advantages/disadvantages between those options, if any?

what dump pipe and cat will they be using for the custom job? and I think you could get a complete setup cheaper, ebay has them for 1600...

I think mild steel will be fine, stainless only lasts longer I think....

x-frorce is pretty sound, lots of people are using it and so am I on my ute - similar setup to what u will be getting - X-force 4'' dump & cat to 3.5'' mild steel exhaust.

Dude,

You can get a full x-force system mail order and fit it yourself. Its a piece of cake if you can jack your car up high enough. I fitted mine up in a few hours. Automace can supply you one for about $1100-$1200 shipped! And you will have it in a week. I got a full system including stainless dump pipe, cat and stainless y-pipe and then mild steel twin 2 1/2" pipes back with 2 mufflers. Sounds awesome! Nice rumble on idle, doesnt drone. Whole lot cost me about $1150 shipped. That would be my recommendation. Be aware you will need a retune / other mods if you replace the dump pipe as well (probably need a new 12psi actuator etc) But if you just replace the pipes from the cat you will not need anything else. Also if you replace the cat and not the dump pipe I guess you will need an exhaust shop as they will have to weld a fitting onto your standard dump to take the new cat.

If your keen give automace a call, pretty good to deal with: www.automace.com.au

Hope that helps!

Yeah I called Automace, they wanted $1,600 for the whole lot. I am going for a full system as my cat has collapsed, figured I would do it all in one go. Don't really want to install myself, I'm not confident enough with these things yet but I guess I never will be if I don't start though! Tried ebay too but I have a ute and there's nothing available on there for them.

The custom made one is a 3.5" dump pipe and a high flow cat and has 1 muffler.

Learnt that it is a good idea to shop around too, another exhaust shop wanted $400 more for the Xforce system and said it would go up again on May 1st.

Well, ummm, were do I start?

I went for the custom made option as the guy really seemed to know what he was doing.

Well it came back very loud, almost deafening at times, the missus hated it and was embarrassed to be seen driving in it. When I lifted the bonnet, lo and behold, there's the original dump pipe!!

Dispite saying he would put a biger one on, it turns out he did not know how they went together and could not make one to fit, so he didn't, and didn't bothr to tell me that!

After some heated arguments I decided to give up as I wasn't really missing out on too much and this guy was not going to budge. So I got him to fix the noise so it was quieter. He has stuck a resonator on at the end and now (unless accelerating hard) it sounds like the car is farting!!

Really upset and angry, at least I have better flow now. Still have to fork out for a cat back system to get a decent note.

I'm told the note changes a little over time due to carbon build up or something like that, hopefully that is true and works out ok.

Now I know that I should to what I know works well and not to trust others opinons.

On another note, the Xfroce website has been updated with some new pics, 1 features a quad tip set up. There's no text for it so I'm not really sure if they make them, worth looking into for the quad tips fans, they look alright.
