Sup y'all, have to take a break from my comic genius duties as I have a weird little problem!

easy cruisy driving as per most of my driving is, steadily through 1st, second and then into third. coming up from 40-50kms until 60kms is normal, and then 60kms comes and the car feels like it changes up a gear into fourth. the revs drop, I can feel the car loosen up as if it'd gone up a gear, and then I change into fourth.

any thoughts ladies and jellybeans???

all comments questions and queries welcome, helpful or hilarious!!

Cheers

Dan

only noticed it over the last month or so...!?

and what erzactly do you mean by it 'locking up'?? as in it's not engaging until it's needed/required?

also wouldn't it only be doing that under a bit more load? not the other way around? ie: it doesnt do it under a bootful

Cheers

Your lock out is engaged, on the Ford it does this in 3rd and 4th gear. Think of it as an overdrive which is engaged at light throttle applications to drop engine RPM and save you fuel. 3rd gear lock out is not needed and a pain in the arse if you ask me. Only time I ever notice it is when the car is in manual or performance mode as any other time the car will sit in 4th gear cruising at any speed. Like you care about fuel economy if the car is in manual or performance mode. :Welcome2FordXR6t:

Just realized you had an auto. I have seen this problem before, you will find it is the thing connected to the gear shifter on the drivers side.
