Hi all, have just fitted a new Mal Wood Option 3 clutch kit to my XR6T,

What im asking is do I need to do anything to run the clutch in so to speak? Or will it just be right to go, not for brutal punishment but some hard driving?

Having just had one fitted last week, I spoke to Ben from Mal Wood's on the very subject. Ben indicated that run it time is dependant on how many times you engage and disengage the clutch and it is not really dependant on how many km's. He said that if you drove it everyday in local suburbia/city style driving with lost of gear changes, it would be run in about a week or so. If you drove it on the highway it would take much longer. Based on that and given my driving is mostly suburbia, I filled the petrol tank and once I am through this tank, I will consider it run in. From there I will gradually increase the strain I will let it go under. Bloody great clutch though as no doubt you have found.

I have an option 5 clutch (awesome clutch) and run it in for 2000kms in suburbia/country.

My previous clutch was an extreme clutch, what a piece of sh!t it was.

Give it about 1000kms just to garrantee its run in, last thing you want is for it to glaze because then it will slip.

Thanks for the feedback lads,

Bout 1000 - 1500 ks it is.

Pick the car up on friday arvo, looking forward to no clutch slipping that's for sure.

I gave mine about ~1500-2000kms as I did a few highway kms in there, but going on 20,000kms now with this clutch and its still as good as its always been! top product imo :buttrock:

ALF05T is on the money, you can damage a new clutch by "Glazing" it which is caused by overheating the clutch.

I would go by KM's not time (weeks) as you may only drive say 20km to and from work so time is useless. about 1k should be fine so long as it is in suburbia.
