Great (old) thread and good info !

I have changed over my povo ICC to Premium Sound with colour screen / satnav / reverse camera / DVD player. All throughout ASL have been helpful...HOWEVER....

The overlay screen from the DVD player overrides the factory screen even in radio mode aarrgghh !! I.e the colour screen is blank whenever the radio is playing except for whenever you touch the controls the overlay screen pops up for 5-6 seconds before the black screen of death reappears.

I have unplugged the 4 pin adapter from behind the DVD player to no avail - however - when the 12pin connector into the video converter is unplugged I get my colour screen back on the radio..yay..at the expense of the everything else (satnav etc).

Apparently, the brown/white wire is possibly the cause as it powers the overlay screen? This is where my expertise is starting to run low :( I have traced the brown/white wire back from the DVD player to the fuse box on the drivers side. It does go through a couple of other connection points but I'm finding it difficult to isolate the exact cause.

Also, another brown/white wire comes out of the DVD player to earth/handbrake. Currently this is just hanging around doing nothing so I get DVD picture while driving. Should this be grounded? Could this be the problem?

Would be great to hear from somebody a bit more cluey on this topic than me. Happy to drive somewhere with $$ to get is sorted...cheers

Sounds like the brown & white wire could be your screen enable/disable, if that's the case this needs to be grounded through a toggle switch. Just finished an install on an asl dvd unit!

No worries, if that doesn't work could mean the first brown and white wire you were chasing is the one im thinking of and if that is grounded that would definately be your problem! So probably worth chasing that one to find out what it is connected to? What type of dvd unit is it?

It's the standard DVD unit supplied by ASL.

One brown/white wire runs from the rgb converter box (located near fuse box) to back of the DVD unit. Another brown/white wire comes out of the DVD player (currently connected to nothing) I'm hoping this is the problem one..?

The toggle switch is installed near the steering column and the brown/white wire coming from it is also just looped up.

When I installed mine I remember putting a brown/white wire from the converter box to ground and the brown/white switch wire from the dvd to ground, I thought I could do away with the switch by just putting it to ground but had exactly the same issue that you are having with the screen constantly dvd enabled! But yours is not connected at all so you would think it should be the opposite effect??? Doesnt seem to make sense!

yeah it's all fun and games until someone Hulk smashes the ICC in frustration :wild:

So is your switch connected at all? Also, where *exactly* did you ground the brown/white wire coming out the back of the DVD player? Or is it connected to the brown/white switch wire?

Im assuming yours is the same as mine, mine was all plug and play apart from three ground wires, one brown/white from the converter box, black earth and brown/white switch wire from dvd unit! All grounded through 12v accessories socket wiring.

Will double check against my instructions when I get home tomorrow, if all else fails might have to run it by ASL?
