Holy cowbells!!! I knew there would be some kind of heat soak issue with a small top mount but seriously?!?!?

Just now: 30c ambient, 51c cruising and 76c after a run.

Falcon 2 years ago today: ? ambient (probably same), 50c cruising and 41c after 18psi pull.

Brb installing front mount :oooh:

Edit: And turbo intake...

Haha not even hey! I'd hate to see what the iat's are on anything that is turned up past stock!

I wonder if the stone guard thing on the bonnet is deflecting the air over the bonnet scoop?

Well I spose I could always check the temp delta over several passes, with and without the guard, and see if there is a significant difference.

It might seem like that but you won't know until you try hey. If it made a 10c difference then the stone guard would go in the shed.

Start at the same road speed/gear/rpm, same starting iat and same finishing speed. Make sure that they are done back to back to control ambient and letting it cool down between runs will ensure that the heat soak factor from the engine itself isn't affecting the result. You don't need to control it any further than that to see if there is a difference. The more passes made, will give the final result more accuracy.

Lol at the end of the day you'd just get a front mount though, unless you were dead set on staying stock.

That's exactly how I'd do the testing, based on the circumstances you have available, so not undermining what you've said, it just won't be scientifically accurate enough, which is what only wind tunnel testing would allow for.

but yeah, get a front mount in there, fab up some pipes and be done with it :P

Lol you wouldn't know where the wind is going but you would know if it affects temps.

I've got that deadly front mount still and heaps of piping and joiners etc.

I've gotta get a wideband installed before I do anything and the stock injectors are nearly maxed on stock boost, so they'll need swapping asap.

Also that actuator still doesn't have enough preload still so yer, the list goes on.

This should sort you out!

Was someone saying recently that the fill plug on their ZF was tight? Far out - ended up with a steel pipe over my breaker bar to crack the bugger.
