Yeah jet apart from the compression issue there isn't a heap wrong with it and you're right about the end result.

While it is a bit more effort on my part it will be a rebuilt and fully serviced vehicle which is hard to come by.

They have given me enough for the entire rebuild including fluids so it's not all bad. They still get paid, I do some work and get a great car for the price.

That's life and the cup is half full on this one. Plus the missus gimme the green light for a couple of bits so it won't break in the future.

Pity it's so farken hot lol.

Why dont you do a leak down text to pin point the issues.

May not be as bad as you think.

Have you inspected the internals with a borescope yet??

I was planning to get that done shortly.

I double checked the comp test the day before yesterday when I first did it, and on the very poor cylinder I actually triple checked it, including removing the tool and making sure it was sealed properly etc.

I put it back together and did another comp test yesterday evening on a warm motor. The reason I did this was because it has no blow by, it's not missing and went well enough considering the lack of pre load.

I bent the bracket out yesterday and picked up about 2000rpm spool.

Anyhow on the warm comp test everything came up no lower than 200psi and no higher than 210psi.

Given that, I've spoken to the dealer and let them know that I don't need the money. They still offered me some money for a a couple of service items that were missed, so that's good of them.
