Matty, congrats on the accepted offer on the house! Hope it all comes up good in the inspections! Exciting stuff!

I put an offer in for a new rental on Friday, so kinda hoping I hear back from that today. If I'd had the luxury of time to find a place I probably would have offered less, but the price it was listed at was reasonable and I really need a place asap...so given it ticks lots of boxes for what I was looking for in a rental I just offered the price they had it listed at on a 6 month lease. The agent reckoned there was another application that had been submitted, not sure if I believed them or not...but again, I don't have the luxury of time to be picky and play the game. Be good if I get this place though, as it means I can organise movers to come and move everything my first day of my next break (coz I've moved myself enough now that I'm happy to pay someone else to come and do it all for me this time!) and then gives a week of the old house being empty to clean etc. Then it's all done and I'll have my own space again in a much nicer house.

Nice double lockup garage, yep. Also has a really rad covered outdoor entertaining area, which would be sweet. Not gonna get my hopes up until I know though. Would make things so much easier if I get it though, otherwise I'll probably have to put all my stuff into a storage locker when I get back next break and crash at a mates place until I find a place.

A wind change late yesterday moved it from my towns direction but still hot and windy today so they got no hope of shutting it down atm, they did a bit of back burning last night to try contain it and slow it down.

 

hwy was open so am out in sunny Branxton working in 37c 8% humidity slaving like a dog... bevos will go down well tonight if I can get home lol

So I visited 11 properties yesterday and too be honest 3 were really good, the rest literally looked like they had just kicked the tenants out the previous week & then did a half hearted vacuum through.

Anyway after 10ish this morning I started getting calls from agents first asking for feedback for the owner & in the next breath asking if I would be putting an offer through.

My honest first thoughts for most of them was "sorry it looked like an absolute sh*thole" but I held my tongue & just said it was my first day looking & I was really just out to see what was available to get a feel for what's out there.

At this stage it looks like they are desperate for sales & I should have first pick of the good ones.

it's amazing if you get any sort of call as a renter... normally renters are treated like scum

 

If you just make a "buyer" enquiry... BAM - 100+ phone calls

Actually I pay my rent directly to the owners.

The first company was really useless, they were also supposed to supply curtains for the windows & even charged the owners for supplying them but I paid mum to make some - which came out really well - & the owners dropped them.

The next ones were the Professionals ( I won't say which office) but they kept mucking me about with rental inspections where they just didn't turn up & didn't give feedback to the owners.

So the owners dropped by on a owners meeting night & asked if I would be happy dealing directly with them & it's been plain sailing ever since. I only see them once a year & no inspections unless work has been done to the place.
