What I love is that we live in a country where I can say that about Islam, or have criticism of Judaism or Christianity (yes everything is open to criticism in my books) and not be persecuted by the state. In hard line Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia I'm looking at you) I would be severely punished for many of my life choices. Personally I see the issue as literalism. Islam especially at the moment is in a dark place and I would agree that there is an issue within Islam itself. It's going through what Christianity went through during the crusades except with modern weaponary. Im uncomfortable with mosques going up as I am with Kingdom Halls, Scientology centres, Hillsong churches. There is an issue as well at the moment that any criticism of Islam is immediately perceived by the hard left as racist. And that's causing an overreaction from the hard right with their ways of life being changed and their freedoms of speech being compromised. One of the reasons I see trump being so popular. It's an over reaction from the PC Culture we have at the moment. At what point should the state intervene? I honestly do not know as that's an incredibly dangerous bridge to cross. Once you go to that place you become no better than the thing your banning in the first place.

If they want to start applying them to people outside of their religion, they'll have to push the government a bit harder than just "practicing their religion".

The fact that the average life expectancy was far less doesn't mean that she was any less developed when she was married off at 9. I don't know how some excuse that. We were dying in the prime of our lives back then, it didn't mean 30 then was 80 now, it is just that 30 was the age you got to and were taken out by disease, wild animals, other humans, etc. I think something a lot of us forget too that there has never been a more peaceful time in history than right now (as in humans killing other humans). Just everything is reported these days and that warps expectations and the reality of our own macro habitat

Islamic State is the modern version of this. What I find distressing is that people refuse to study and take notice of history. What turbotrana said about Muhammad being a pedophile is historical fact. Fluff, read your history, and as you read the Quran the infidel is you, and all who are not a Muslim
