Ok, so what's the consensus on seeing/dating an ex partner of a friend? Admittedly, not a super close friend, but basically I used to work with the guy and we always got along and catch up infrequently. They split around 3 months ago. No idea where things may go at this stage, but we caught up recently and really hit it off and have been pretty chatty since...but I have that underlying niggle regarding etiquette/protocol in such a situation. Wouldn't exactly go saying anything at this stage, given don't know yet where things may lead, but yeah...just something that's popped into my head...

Lets all pretend we didn't expect this....

^ we have?

They split amicably and don't resent each other...just kinda got to a point where they realised they weren't what the other wanted/needed and moved on.

I'm trying to find the discussion...

EDIT:

found it ->

Just got a call from a mate's, until recently, Mrs...I didn't actually know they'd split until she just told me. The text I got from him yesterday saying we should catch up for beers now makes more sense. Hmmm, poor bloke, they've been together for years and he's always been very focused on her...so I'd imagine he's going to get pretty lonely.

Give me a bit of a heads up to look out for him. I'd just sent an email around to my work email contacts about my shave thingo and she replied saying she'd been meaning to speak to me.

Yeeeeah right

How long before you can Bang your mates Ex these days?

As soon as said mate gives the OK.

There is no timeframe - you must always ask (if you have knowledge of them being together at any point in time).

Once the "bro" gives his OK, you're free to bangitybangbangbang away.

Have u been reading the "how to make friends" handbook again Keith

^brocode?

Gonna be honest though, she's pretty farking stunning...way out of my league! Awesome chick though, she's Swedish...so epic accent too. BUT, I knew my mate before her...only met her through him, so not gonna even attempt to go there...

NO WAY!!!

Bang away!!!

You can find mates anywhere, just go down the local and start shouting beers!

Good mates are overrated.........especially when it comes to Swedish stunners

This won't end well.

same girl?

edit: if he "had strong feelings for her" he'll probably never forget her... you can't rely on memory loss to be your gatekeeper :P
