What suburbs?

Why does the first house have to be a new one?

Get something in Kewdale for mid 400s upward (ie close to the city and airport).

Or something for upper 300s in Bassendean.

Should have added:

It does sound like a good deal. I don't like the idea of a brand new house with a 94 camry parked out the front.

If you are smart about it and don't want rectified porcelain tiles and plush shag carpets you should be able to get away from it pretty cheap if you pick from the standard inclusions list.

Just do it I it feels right, that's my advice

My first house I thought I'd be in forever... 40 minutes from the CBD, so it was cheaper. And as mentioned above, I went stock standard everything except the insulation I maxed out, to lower my energy bills

Now not even 2 years later I have rented it it out and building another one that's 20mins from the CBD

Once your in the housing market it is a lot easier to step into something else... Just gotta start somewhere

Very rarely can you go wrong

9-11% for a home loan, his dreaming.

I just spoke with mine bank guy yesterday and I'll be getting 4.38% home loan. Paying interest only whilst house is getting built,

Speak to a bank mate not a block from a shopping center.

Whats the flood plain look like?

pretty nice spot down by a river.

A retirement village on one side of the estate, the river on the other...not bad.

Dags raises a fair point. You need the councils Q50,Q100 and even Q200-500 flood maps.

It's in maddington, behind Arcadia waters. So it's near all the new development in the area, but by the river. It's isolated over the other side though, so you won't get the through traffic etc. I went for a drive through there yesterday, it's a much nicer area than I thought. There's some rather expensive houses down the back there by the river.

Here's the estate:

I'm looking at lot 744.

90k cheaper and zamesize house?

turn key inclusions?

Bigger block and much bigger house. I'll scan the inclusions list when I can be bothered getting out of bed. It covers enough to comfortably live in it, without feeling povo. Fencing and front landscaping included.

Yeah, would try keep it as close to the quoted price as possible. Don't wanna go too overboard.

Yeah, this place would be around 1.2km walk from the train station, then 20 mins on the train to the city...so not bad. It's 4 stations from where I currently live.

Home loan is regular 4.6% or whatever the going rate is. And yep, paying interest only while it's being built. Loans are though Westpac (bank).

Pretty sure that rate was for a personal loan of some kind to make up the deposit?

And he just happened to know of a new estate in a different suburb.

Whats the flood plain look like?

Ummmmmm...not sure. When I saw river...It's not like a raging section of the river. The estate website shows the scale more accurately. How do I find those plans Panda mentioned?

This is the design I'd be leaning towards.

But also considering these two.

I like the design of the Brisbane one. The living zones are well designed and segregated. Main living area with the kitchen opening onto the alfresco is a win. Home theatre with the master makes sense to me to.
