Not interested in music.. Just a deaf bastard.. So most headphones I can't hear anything with say plane engines in the background.. So I was using NC headphones as they were better at blocking out noise..

Wasn't too unhappy with beats.. They were comfortable and sounded good.. could completely blank out my mother with them on listening to videos..

So yeah ear buds work if I don't have background noise and I'm very happy with the standard ones that came with my samsung tablet.. Always had a decent set of headphones for flying.. Shall investigate some of the options listed..

Being happy is all that matters :)

I think JB have the Beats and the Bose - both about the same price - try to have a listen to both and get the one you prefer

Beats are good for bass... not much else, imho.
For what purpose, what situations and what timeframes are you looking at using the headphones in?

If you're like me: not very loud music (either streaming radio or my own music collection), 4hr + 4hr per weekday and not much background noise to drown out - mine are suitable for all of those things, hence why I chose them. :)

If your circumstances are different, there will probably be better (more expensive) headphones that suit you better.

and you really enjoy the "sound quality" when going to a cinema or you're indifferent to that?

What sort of environments?

I have a set of creative in ear noise cancelling. By far the best ive had in all time catching planes to work.

They also have the extra features thay they will still function if the battery dies.

If comfort is your main issue, go to a JB Hi-Fi or similar and just try a bunch of them on your head and go for the one that "feels" the best for your head/ear shapes.
