So they were all legit.

So they were all legit.I noticed they used 2 inductive loops under the road, the 2nd right after a 90 degree corner. Theoretically cutting the corner just a bit to much could give a false positive. I mean for fark sake these guys get it right race after race and all of a sudden a stack of guys get done? Cmon...

The commentators go on to explain how the second and third car in a group comming into the pits use the front car as a shield and catch up. They are racing car drivers they will try anything. It's the team managers that are a good barometer. None of them had to much of an issue with it and whilst I can't recall who it was. One of them said yeah he probably was a Kay or two over. Timing equipment must be parallel to be accurate. Imagine if the beam at the end of the strip was mounted at a 45 degree angle relative to the staging beams. The distance to trip the beam in either lane would be different. Given the distance is the only known factor used to calculate your speed once your time to travel that distance has been obtained, how can that calculation possibly be accurate if there is ANY variation in the distance travelled. Not to mention that the reaction time of an inductive loop system is probably not good enough to accurately calculate speed over such a small distance. In the case of drag strip equipment its 100ths of a second or .00 Edited 07/04/14 08:01 AM by barnz

The optimist in me believes it's a professional sport and the tracks are up to standard. Sillier assumptions have been made however.

How the fk is that Craig's fault who was the moron who taped it up and why? Pretty sure it wasn't Craig... So the driver gets maximum punishment. Right. A hefty fine to the team for breach of safety regulations seems fair to me. That is then donated to charity to raise the profile of the sport. Not having a dig at your opinions at all mate and you are entitled to them. Its just, I think this conversation belongs in the WPYO thread haha
