Basically process is this:

  1. Some overly concerned member of the public complains about something relating to the bridge.
  2. Bridge inspector goes out and looks for faults
  3. bridge inspector finds a known fault. I go out and place a cup of water on the bridge
  4. Observe cup of water for prolonged period of time.. Walk around bridge look for other faults.. .
  5. Report findings and organise fancy schmancy testing equipment to go to bridge..
  6. Take results from fancy testing equipment.. Then suggest we would be the best company to oversee repairs because we were involved with the cup of water, while telling government it needs fixing.

There is an allowable amount of movement in bridges depending on the conditions. It's pretty obvious with the cup of water when it's moving outside the allowable amount..

Don't care about the thousands.. It's not my money paying for testers.. Plus if the testers do the reporting on the bridge wobble it ain't my arse on the line if we tee up 2 million bucks worth of repairs and it's not actually faulty..
