Found out that they've changed my sisters diagnosis, as they no longer believe she has leukemia. While normally this would be cause for celebration, it's actually not. She's been re-diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia, which is a rediculously rare auto-immune disease. It's similar to leukemia, but it's not a cancer. Instead, her bone marrow is dying. Last week I was told that I may have to have a blood test to see if I'm a match with her. Now this is definitely going ahead, as if the drugs she's on dont work, she'll need a bone marrow transplant. It's such a stressful time. The version of this that she has isn't contagious, isn't inheritable, and only affects 2 in a million people world wide, but she is the second person in my immediate family to come down with this illness. Blood and platelet donations will literally keep her alive. I know it's bad to wish an illness on a family member, but I wish she had leukemia instead.
