Personal hotspot can be turned off and only used when you want - also take anywhere there is coverage. Telstra and Optus now sell 4G hotspots and Telstra has alot of 4G coverage. My 4G WiFi hotspot is faster than my office ADSL WiFi so I tend to use it more "in the name of science" :roflmbo::thumbsup:

dude just went through same thing bang on.... had unlimited adsl 2+ for 39.95 a month at last house... this house cant bet anything until nbn has finied been rolled out...

compared all and ended up getting a deal on a 12 month plan for 8gb wifi through telstra with free wifi modem that connects to upto 4 devices and is only slightly slower than our old adsl....

$49 a month I think it is .... the only part I like about it is that if we go over it slows down not charges more...

telstra= taking advantage of aussies who dont have fixed home lines with an option!

EDIT: first bill is wrong of course .... oh and is 4g

yeah but gary I am used to downloading lots. plus service where I am going is iffy at best so I want to be able to put up an antenna and mount the router in one spot so as to have best signal. talked to optus and they are like yeah you have coverage. so I said if it doesn't work can I send it back because you said there was coverage. nekminnit they reckon there is no coverage. had a prepaid usb out there yesterday and get 2 bars of reception up to 4 but only like 300kbps of download. so looks like getting arse raped by telstra as I know they work. mssus parents have it already. same signal strength as optus but running at 2-3 mbps.

Edit: Fluffa I would never buy one of those so called wifi modems. bring back the old elite gateways ffs least we could do farking networking with them. its alright if you just want internet but I run a home network and those things are way too unreliable
