Sounds serious

An inherited disorder of uric-acid metabolism occurring predominantly in men, characterized by painful inflammation of the joints, especially of the feet and hands, and arthritic attacks resulting from elevated levels of uric acid in the blood and the deposition of urate crystals around the joints. The condition can become chronic and result in deformity.

You're right, too young, this would be just for old guys like me.

Unfortunately I can sympathise with you one this one – I have had it since I was sixteen.

What sh*ts me the most is the common misconception that it is caused by excess consumption of alcohol (no offence intended Annie, I understand you don't have a clue). It is actually something that is passed down through the genes, in fact it usually will only affect every second generation.

I hope for your sake it’s not though Wicksy and the doctor has misdiagnosed – otherwise kiss goodbye to beer, anything with seeds in it (I.e. tomatoes and strawberries) and acidic foods like pineapple. Welcome to sleepless nights, 5+ litres of water everyday, medication daily, endless blood tests and plenty of sh*t slinging from the ill-informed!

All the best though in any case.

Trent.
