How long has it been sitting?

The tank gets topped up as the genset exercises regularly so there could be really old fuel in there (+1 year) but mixed with new fuel... If you know what I mean.

The tank itself is usually kept full (at 3qtr at the moment because of power outage over the weekend). Just wondering if I should burn the rest of the tank and start fresh with an additive or just add the additive now.

Best bet Paulie would be to get the fuel doctor out to sample it...we get that done every few months at work for our backup generators.

They test for water and bacteria etc and extract/treat as required...but our setup is fairly full-on with main tank in the basement and day tank on the roof 25 storeys away etc. so don't really want it fcking up.

Just google onsite fuel sampling or something I guess.

Ours is done by a subbie to the mob that maintains all mechanical services so don't know exactly - but can find out of you can't find anyone.

Mate had a chat to my technical team and they reckon burn it off and put a fresh tank in. Diesel attracts moisture as you have been told and by topping up fresh diesel into the tank you just contaminating the whole lot.

Every so often use all the diesel to the bottom
