Same antenna. For standard definition you basically just plug it in as if it is a VCR - high definition gives you better picture and sound, but even the standard definition is still fantastic (bit like the N/A in car speak)

Trent.

Thanks, I've been thinking about this lately. Do I need a widescreen TV or is the standard size ok?

Having a look at the TV right now, I've lost about 5cm on all sides of the picture. For widescreen broadcasts (not all programs are in widescreen), I lose about 5cms on the top and bottom only - leaving me with the so-called black envelope look. This is on a 71cm conventional TV. I can live with the reduction, because the picture is so much clearer.

A widescreen would look better obviously, but like I said, not all programs are in widescreen, so you will still have extra black areas on the outer parts of the picture for many programs.

Dad has 5 sisters (which goes some ways to explaining him) & Margaret is the youngest of them all at 61.

Don't need it - just makes it better.

As Aniken mentioned the picture basically shrinks on a standard tv depending on what display setting you have selected. I think most of them now (well mine does anyway) have three output options: Widescreen, Letterbox (shrinks it to fit), Crop (chops the widescreen bits off so that it will appear the same as normal tv)

Hmmm, how much for the box and are there different "quality" set-top boxes?
