interesting that NZ is the place where they filed for bankruptcy... surely there's a good reason for that.

Could be, I don't know. I thought it was interesting they are asking an arm and a leg for their turbos then reckon they don't sell enough.

they sell to OEMs so don't need to worry too much about aftermarket sales haha

Yeah I figured that. It's a bit odd that more OEM's are using more turbos now than ever before, yet they are still going broke. I guess we'll never know cos Garrett reckon they were shafted by an asbestos court case and Honeywell reckon they are full of it.

Excuse the ignorance but wtf does asbestos have to do with turbos? 😋

How does a court case like that screw them. And Honeywell can suck a toe. All they do is try to buy their way into industries. Damn them and all their money!

probably something to do with the materials older turbo's are made of... or the buildings they were manufactured in. :idunno:

Sounds to me like Garret was bought from Honeywell a couple of years ago including all good will and also a 28yo court case exepmtion from further presecution that was about to expire.

Exemption from extensive damages expired and some of the problems are still problems that are bankrupting them.

Honeywell call BS and say the current owners only have themselves to blame.

Nothing says it was in NZ that they filed for bankruptcy - Chapter 11 isn't anything unusual in the US - maybe a strategy to counter any other claims coming forward
