Got a response from sparesbox for my warranty claim. They require the arms to be sent to them for assessment. Mint. Let me just buy another car so I can drive for the next 4 weeks 🙃😡

“We will be more than happy to get your Warranty Claim underway!

From here, we will need the part returned to us. Once we have received it, we will send it off to our supplier or manufacturer for assessment. From there we will need to await assessment and approval from the manufacturer before a replacement can be offered.”

Yea what a joke that's basically there way of saying please f@ck off.....

I bought a stainless steel Exhaust for my old m3 many years ago the one m3 series to have a v8 and I'm talking a super expensive system full system was like 8.5k.... car sounded great but right hand side headers cracked went for a replacement or refund seller wanted to deny it stating installation error crap.... I tried to play ball but it's only when I threatened to go on social media and hammer the seller and the exhaust manufacturer that suddenly oh well replace the headers for you..... I hate having to be like that.. made me feel like ok so you don't want the manufacturer to find out is that bcoz you never asked them to replace it? Or what?

im not saying sparesbox is like that,, but common assess what the part failed You sold it replace it

@TRYME Its really annoying. Kinda thought a statement and video from a very reputable mechanic would be enough for them. Now I have put sh*t arms back in, send the ones I have back to, wait for them to decide on the next way forward. WHICH they can even just say "nah these don't warrant a replacement".

It'll take over a week for the arms to get to them, faster if I do express - but I have to pay the shipping charges? Its not my fault they're f*cked in the first place so why should I have to cover the cost for them to physically see the arms!?

Plus another week for the arms to be returned to me. All-in-all this whole thing will take probably a month before its sorted.

Also, update on my brothers car.

Had it towed to Rob's shop, the next day (so yesterday), motor and trans was out.

Rob said piston 6 is 4mm lower than it should be at TDC - indicating a bent rod. This was found before the motor came out.

He wanted to check the flex plate bolts as well, I don't think he found any issue with them, can't confirm because my brother didn't mention if there was a flex plate issue or not.

Rob found some metally bits and bobs in the sump so that's no good.

Waiting on another update from my brother once Rob checks the pistons.

Poor guy, one of the few I know that babies his car, gets a stage 2 package then bends a rod 😂

Meanwhile there's me.... Doing stupid sh*t on the road and the car is going great.... Minus the head oil leak I guess.

That's warranties in Australia,, they suck, they try to dodge honouring there guarantee as a lot of people can't be bothered chasing them up etc going

through hassle,, goodluck though if they do replace them for you then it's not all so bad...

sorry to hear about your bros motor... any idea what direction hel go? Basic forged build? Or try get a stock bottom end? :)

I think I'm gonna go through superpro directly. Hopefully they'd be more willing to help 🤷‍♂️

He's waiting on more updates from Rob atm. Its come at the worst time. His partners car's trans blew. Going in for replacement for ~$7.5k, they're in the process of building, and his c*nt of a boss hasn't signed off his apprenticeship yet either. He's been cleared to be qualified by TAFE for nearly a year - his company is just f*cking him around now and its getting ridiculous.

APMS, good to their workers, not to their apprentices.

I told him he should at least try get some F6 rods, I've been told they're stronger than standard turbo rods?

As suspected, they want me to purchase another set of arms then send them the faulty ones.

There is a chance then that if they are not deemed to be faulty that I'd be down over $400!

The arms have gone up in price since I bought them 😳

I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy another set 😥
