The school sent home a "sight words" book that has words such as "a", "the", "and" etc. They get harder as the levels increase but they are still suited to what most 5 to 6 yo's can handle. The only thing is, he has already taught himself how to read fluently, and can spell most of what he reads as well. He could read this forum post with ease, although I might have to explain to him what a forum is and what "fluently" means.
