Anyone know specifically why commo with tr6060 shifts a whole lot quicker than the FG tr6060?

Not just in my ute, have driven 4 now all pretty similar when giving it some.

If its a box thing I might go magnum, gotta get new clutch plates anyway so the input shaft spline change shouldn't be an issue.

Something to do with the shifter and gate mechanisms, I think. The FG TR6060 has a rough gate through-movement. Talk to mal-wood about options to loosen it up a bit.

I actually wondered this myself after driving my FG2 GT back-to-back with my mates VF-SS-V ute...his shifted a whole lot smoother and nicer than mine.

smoothness is over-rated :) solid mechanical engagement is what you want, rather than the uncertainty of a sloppy box (pun intended)

I don't think the two need to be mutually exclusive, Keith? You can have solid engagement and still have smooth operation.

You're right that a middle-ground exists. Unfortunately it's a compromise on both ends to inhabit said middle-ground.

It might seem like that but you won't know until you try hey. If it made a 10c difference then the stone guard would go in the shed.

Start at the same road speed/gear/rpm, same starting iat and same finishing speed. Make sure that they are done back to back to control ambient and letting it cool down between runs will ensure that the heat soak factor from the engine itself isn't affecting the result. You don't need to control it any further than that to see if there is a difference. The more passes made, will give the final result more accuracy.

Lol at the end of the day you'd just get a front mount though, unless you were dead set on staying stock.

My stock cooler works fine for a quick squirt.
