The zf uses electronic solenoids to select each gear. You could have a momentary button to select 'neutral'.

cept when you get told their built boxes only last like 120-150k kms and that's getting a good life from it.

 

its another reason I sold mine, the box had done around 120k since being built.

 

and arron the zf is hell fun you can be off your chops driving with the boys and stomp it to get 2nd gear.

 

if and when I have my time again, I would love to get into a reasonably powered manual with less power than my old one. manuals FTW

Nope.

 

Manuals can go jump in a volcano.

 

As for service life, when you start flogging the crap out of your machinery it doesn't generally last long. The ford zf boxes were never designed to be pushed as hard as they are.

 

In all seriousness I don't really give a fark what people prefer. 

 

You blokes like manuals and I like autos. Now where's the beers bro?
