Yeah we got a text and I was like... pffftttt were in residential its fine and im sure its not even close .
Then the air started to smell like burn and I realised the smoke was more dangerous than losing our house... went out the front and was like holy chit that's pretty close bahaha.
Litterally 3 minute drive down the road was scorched so it was pretty close... but we had to leave as the little tacket breathing in smoke wasnt good ... cars were covered in ash when we went out the front to go.
Was pretty nuts.

Fires a chhunt.
All the poor animals as well

Yep that one was definitely an eye opener. Its amazing how safe ya feel till something like that happens. Not far from you guys turns into bushland pretty quickly.

Same with us down south, happy valley and Aberfoyle park are pretty vulnerable as well..

As you said Bushfires are f@#ked.

Fires can suck a fat one.

When the Pinery fire came through I was at home with my 3 (now 4) kids. The missus was at work, half an hour away.

I made the call to leave my house when the recommendation came to evacuate.

I attached my trailer, put the kids in the car and thoroughly messed up my house packing irreplaceable things and also some clothes.

We lost power for 3 days so had to stay in a motel for that time and didn't get phone reception back for about a week.

As it turned out, the fire missed our house by about 1km. The smoke made it seem like it was a lot closer.

It was not a fun time that's for sure.
