Just providing you are willing to do it in all weather types, within hours. Perth is pretty, amazing weather, and laid back in comparison. To me Melbourne felt older and more run-down compared to Perth. If "culture" is your thing, then rad...for me, meh. Agreed that Perth has been ruined by CUB's and the like though. I'd live in Vancouver in a heartbeat. Favourite city I've visited so far. Modern city, great infrastructure, by the water, short drive to go snowboarding, gorgeous lanscape, cost of living (housing aside) is pretty good.
