Jet/Fluff a mate of mine works on the mines and he swears by the brush gear from AEG. 3 years warranty on the battery and 6 years on the hardware.

but to get that sort of warranty, you need to signon/register on their webpage.

They have a package deal for 1k but not sure what is supplied in the deal.

Have you guys looked at AEG?

I closest I have come to buying battery operated equipment was making the mistake of buying the Australian brand GMC the batteries lasted 3 months and then wouldnt charge.

got them replaced and then same thing happened. I just gave up in the end.

Instead of buying another drill, I decided to get this.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hitachi-3-6V-Lithium-Ion-Pencil-Driver-Drill-Kit-DB3DL2-HL-/252083559594?

I have had this for 2 or 3 weeks now and love the damn thing. gave both batteries a charge when I first got it and haven't recharged since.

I use it close to 30 minutes a night while working on RCs or taking my amp apart. still going strong.

Being in the trade nearly 16 years I've had a go at most things it's always a trade off on the bang for buck situation

Had top of the line hilti gear spit the chewie at the 3 year mark and at $1800 for a batt hammer drill it hurts

The Milwaukee batt drill has been going great for two years now so the new hammer was an obvious choice

Haven't had a new AEG but had the old blue one

The warranty on thrm is appealing though
