Picking up what you're putting down now...bluetooth wouldn't be a solution anyway unless you only ever have either your laptop or PC running (not both).

I have a KVM switch at home that I no longer use, and is DVI not VGA if that matters and has audio too. Cost me a few hundred from memory, you can have it for a few hundred if you like Ralphy.

That the thingy Tabby, My monitors have dual input so switching videos source is easy. I use HDMI from the PC for better Prons and DVI from the Lappy Dock for Boring work stuff.

I just need a single usb port that can supply both so I can leave the logitech reciever that does my Keyboard/Mouse/Num Pad plugged in.

Have seen USB switch boxes around but have never purchased or used one. But yeah that thing you linked to should do the trick provided it's powered from usb and doesn't need the video connected.

Or what you could do that'd be simpler is just unplug the dongle and move it between your PC & laptop as required. :brightidea:

I think that's his problem - forgetting to unplug it when he heads home

KVM's the best solution - unless you remote into your laptop from the desktop rather than use it direct

:idunno:

Or just use wired keyboard and mouse. That way if you forget to unplug them you'll notice it's a bit more difficult to get your lappy in its bag.

Am I still being helpful?

haha I did laugh at Tab..

That is a pretty practical solution.. Sounds like something my boss would come up with because wired keyboard and mouse is cheaper..

Does your docking station have a decent number of USB ports Ralph?

Mine has 4, but goes to 10 with the 2 monitors plugged into it..

a USB switch (like a KVM switch but just for either Keyboard or Mouse only) is a superfluous item as you can just get more USB ports (via a USB hub) and use all of your USB items at once (as long as you have hte required voltage running through the hub, of course).

switches like KVM switches allow you to use minimal amounts of USB devices for multiple PC's.
