I like spicey food to the point where some things are that spicey after a couple mouthfuls I can't taste it..

Not unbearable inside the mouth but it just seems pointless to me to eat something if you can't taste it..

+1 for hiccups meaning it's good and spicey though..

My wife loves the nando's spicey sauces.. I don't see the point as most of the hot ones obliterate my taste..

Takes a bit of acclimatisation. Slowly you can take hotter stuff without it affecting taste (can actually taste more)

I do agree though that heat for the sake of heat is pointless to me (unless it's to impress your mates - "here, try this")

That said though - while the Nando's Extra Hot sauce is more than bareable (barely raises a tingle) - the lesser hot ones seem to have a lot more flavour.

I do find though if I've gone a while without anythiong spicy then I need to turn it down a few notches and work my way back up again.

lol, "extra-extra hot" sauce is quite a step up from the "extra hot" sauce, at nando's; at least 2-3x hotter.

But even that's child's play compared to the stuff that BiZkets is likely referring to :)

Nice site for getting an idea of the different sauces

Blairs Megadeath Sauce is probably the hottest one I've got in the fridge at the moment - more of a food additive than a sauce though (doesn't taste too good on it's own)

Just guessing I'd put the Nando's hottest around the 2,500-3,500 scoville level? Just a bit hotter than Tabasco?

Here's something else to look forward to as you get older...... can't eat spicy foods - or chilli - or onions - or garlic.... not fair I say

Or steak (falsies)

The day that happens is the day I put myself down for euthanasia.

(looking at a couple of fat rib-eyes I've got ready to chuck on the charcoal tonight - If I can't do that I might as well be dead)

I have a bottle of Blair's UltraDeath sauce (the hottest one of the "death" sauce range), it's ridiculously hot - Naga Jholokia (ghost chili) peppers in that one. 800,000SHU rating

EDIT: Nando's Extra Hot is reported to be around the 80,000 to 100,000 SHU range (at least 10x as hot as standard tobasco), Extra-Extra Hot is reported to be anywhere between 180,000-230,000 SHU. Standard Habonero Chili sauces are around 250,000 to 300,000, Red Habonero's slightly hotter up to 400,000 :) From there it just gets insane.
