I’m not at all saying that people should strive for higher wages, what grates me is unions using heavy-handed standover tactics that absolutely fck-over business and governments because there is often no alternative than giving them what they want.

Some of the conditions that come out of EBAs or the like are farkin unbelievable. Many places have folded over the years and a few are either going through it right now or outsourcing everything to the injans. Nobody wins out of that.

I agree with you Tab. Majority of my friends work in the commercial electrical trade on construction sites and they are getting paid exorbitant amounts for doing bugger all. If something isn't right they were the first to strike and the last to go back to work. Clearing $2700 for a 10hr day, 6 days a week (plus allowances) and then having the nerve to complain about work conditions is absurd. It's unsustainable in the long run and the reason most of them have now had to go regional to install smart meters, solar panels etc for work.

Here we get Award plus a little more. If the company does well we get a nice bonus at the end of the year but nothing is guaranteed so its on the workers to be as efficient as they can.

Lol I may be a bit different..

*readys flame suit*

Electrical people do deserve a fair bit (alright 2700 a day can be a bit rich).. But the numptys that annoy me the most are operators.. I see some heavy machinery operators get in excess of 2500-3000 per shift and they are only operating at 50-70%..

Fitters and other qualified people on site are getting less than that.. Dude in a grader or dozen is raking it in..

Not the same everywhere but I hate overpaid unskilled people.

Anything over $1000 per day is just outrageously good money... wow... I'm obviously in the wrong industry.

Poor little sparkles. Not picking on you snotters, happy that people get excellent pay packets just not happy when it's automatically expected regardless of whether it's deserved.

It also amuses me that the same folk that have undeservedly been on the gravy train for a few years are starting to be thrown off said train after a bit of a downturn and are back in the real world.

But winding the conversation back a day or two...anyone looking to still swap work? Buying shopping centres is not all its cracked up to be - happy to design a bridge or garden in lieu if there are any takers?

Not picking on sparky's Jet just using them as an example. I have about 6 friends that work in that industry and it always comes up every time we gather for a poker night.

Morning all

Tab, transfer the coin you use to buy shopping centres into my account and I'll happily give you these landscapes plans.
