Doesnt really matter what type of building its a built in quick evacuation safety measure that is easy and quickly executed.

Scenario A...Warden is standing in the evacuation area firey walks up and asks if the entire floor has been evacuated warden jumps on CB or turns to area warden and ask if floor has been checked area warden looks at his toes and umms & aahs checked most rooms cant remember which....Firey has to check every room on floor unnecessarily.

Scenario B...Warden is standing in the evacuation area firey walks up and asks if the entire floor has been evacuated warden jumps on CB or turns to area warden and ask if floor has been checked area warden all rooms marked with cross and closed door have been evacuated....Firey only needs to check unmarked rooms.

Indicator panel has a row for each floor with the P.A. and alarm controls etc, also has a couple of check buttons that you select to illuminate when the floor is cleared or otherwise as reported by floor wardens over the intercom/in person when evacuated.

Firies walk in, see a row of green lights and know that all is well...if not then seek further details.

Beats drawing on doors.

...firies then write up their invoice for a false call-out and mumble something about their smoko being interrupted and get in their trucks and fck off.

Ours don't get air horns. That's f*cking cool. Would move the sheep in this place out a lot quicker.

The fatties usually try and stay behind in the fire drills because they don't like walking the stairs.

That's dependent on the building having those systems in place though and there'd be a hell of a lot of places still not up to that level of safety.

True. Also each state is different as well, Qld is supposedly the toughest after the Childers backpacker fiasco.

The systems here now are pretty good and will tell you exactly what sensor where has tripped the alarm and automate the evacuation by cascading through the floors etc. The old panels told you fck all and you literally had to go searching for what caused the alarm.
