A bone marrow transplant actually resets your immunity to illness... So she'll actually have a worse immune system than a baby (until babies are immunized, they get covered to an extent by what they get from the mother). She won't be able to get her needles for a year at least. Means she'll have to change careers, as she works in child care. Also if Nikki and I aren't suitable donors, they'll have to find a match on the donor register, and to receive a marrow donation from someone you're not related to means the success rate drops dramatically.
