well, doc, the crusade for the "pleasant truth" starts here!

"Awful Truth" my ass!

Lets hope so Senna _T, but there are so many fearful "True Believers" who prefer to be influenced by fols like Al Gore. In the UK it has now been ruled by the courts that if school techers want to show his drivel documentary to pupils, they must give them a sheet pointing out 16 main points on the film that have no factual basis. One was the Polar Bears having no where to live crap, when Gore was taken to task about it he had to admit that he made a mistake and that the truth was that 3 Polar Beras had been washed of an iceberg in one of the biggest storms recorded in the North Pole last century. Also there was no evidence to proove his staement that pacific islands were sinking so the natives had to be relocated to NZ. that film was one of the greatest modern cons of all time. Scare the hell out of people, get them emotional enough and they tend to believe anything that offers a glimmer of hope agianst what, in this case, is an unscientific, unproovable load of nonsense

that's unbeleiveable! what a rort(spelling)! Slightly OT but, There is a great documentary called Planet Earth, its an Attenborough narrated doco that I think is absolutely awesome, filmed in Hi-Def etc etc. But they touch on the fact that the Polar Bears are having to swim farther to find food because the ice is melting, and to find out that its crap is very frustrating - it makes me sad :crybaby:

I think we should be driving cars running on compressed natural gas to try and slow this global warming down.

On that topic, our fantastic new RUDDerless government, who is so committed to Kyoto (even though what he really signed isn't Kyoto), has just announced they will be dropping the LPG conversion grant.

Dad's company thought they'd do the right thing, and try out this Carbon Credits stuff...

Organised this company to come out and look at their factories and their construction areas... then while they were working out a quote,

my dad asked who the money was paid to and who undertakes the "tree planting" turns out the companies that go around doing carbon neutral assessments, are actually the company that the money gets paid to, and who apparently plants millions of trees...

So they pretty much, quote you what ever the hell thy want, and make you feel guilty about ruining the planet... but then the huge amount they've quoted you goes to them... and you get no proof that the trees have been planted... like they won't tell you where they plant all these trees, so you can't look at a huge plantation and say, that is where my money went, and I am making a difference.

I have never believed all this crap anyway, and this just compounds my views.

Get a glass of water, put some ice in it. Mark where the water line is, then wait for the ice to melt... According to these "scientists" the planet will flood if all the ice melts. Ice displaces the same volume if not more, than the water that creates it. So, for a while the water level of the earth will rise slightly, only to fall again once the ice has melted. Assuming that it is actually melting, and that it all will melt. Also, this theory doesn't allow for the evaporation of water too... which if this global warming is right, a lot of water will evaporate due to the increased power of the sun.

just my 2c

Yes, but I've got a feeling global warming would be the least of your worries... Your biggest problem would be global drinking.

Exactly... "To be carbon neutral you need to pay this much to offset your busines.... just make the cheque out to us, and we'll sort it out for you..."

can anybody spell ripoff?

Only initially, such as Qantas presently asking for donations for your Carbon Footprint (f!ck I hate that term). I told them carbon is found in pencil lead and I don't use pencils, that confused the hell out of them then when I asked if it will be compulsory soon I was told "Sooner than you might think".

When enough hoo ha is made about all this nonsense it, paying more, will become compulsory. Havn't you seen the latest fool the Govt commissioned to investigate it. He has already stated in every major media outlet that we will all have to make sacrifices and that The Standard of Living for AVERAGE Australians will be effected to help combat this. That is a nice way of saying get ready for taxes and charges to increase considerably. :+1::stupid:
