I do it on external wastegates by having a pressure relief valve set at whatever PSI I want the gate to crack open. They help alot but actually too much as the boost hits the rear wheels too hard and sets them spinning where as when the boost comes on softish it gives the tyres a chance of grip. So I dont adjust it for it to come on so hard.A larger exhaust dump helpsTuning, advancing timing down low on an autoBeing a 4 valve engine it is gutless down low anyway so it does not matter what you do, it is just a characteristic of it. Once over 2000 rpm the turbo was driven as normal by exhaust gasses and the one-way bearing allowed normal operation. Th 2800rpm convertor wont be doing you any favours off boost.My 6 speed manual ute has 4.1's in it and in 1st and 2nd get around 6 pound at around 2800rpm. In 3rd and 4th I see 8 to 10 pound around 2500 rpm. Once it gets past six pound it boosts up to 15psi in the blink of an eye.if you want to get rid of the lag fit a hot side pipe kit, nizpro/process west/rapid pleum and pipe kit.that'l fix it Lukewhat is the hot side pipes gonna do? Im talking about the ones they do that come up the left hand side of the radiator, across the front of the engine and into the standard crossover. Using larger diameter piping, as in mine which are 2.5inch, there is a better, smoother flow which can carry more air, faster.The factory rubber piping ( and really any rubber intercooler piping ) will start to soften with age and expand/contract on higher boost, which can also cause lag and spongy throttle responce.it's pretty common on turbo cars all over the world to replace these rubber hoses with alloy piping... commonly refered to as "hard pipes" by the US market.Factory turbo cars use rubber hosing as its cheap to manufacture, and does an ok job on factory boost settings...run higher boost and you really should upgrade the piping.
