Unfortunately searching for 'XR8' doesn't yeild any results in the search feature as it's only 3 letters.Of the the forums on this topic that I have found though, the main thing that is often repeated over and over is XR8 for noise and XR6T for mods.I really don't care about noise, or mods. I'm happy to keep things stock, obviously the Boss sounds better, but noise wont be a deciding factor on my purchase. Basically I want to base my decision on which car suits my driving style better. I notice that when I drive, the motor is usually running from between idle and about 2500 rpm. So between the 2 models. Which one drives better in that rev range? which one is better for cruising? I do like to give it a good squirt here and there, but it doesn't make up much of my driving, so I can't see the point in buying based on that alone. Also, which motor is more reliable and maintenance friendly? the T or the Boss? What sort of things have you found at all annoying about either engine. Basically which motor will give more hassle free driving? I intend to buy a new FG and keeping it for a good 10 years, so want something that will last. Edited 04/04/08 04:44 AM by Elias

I wouldn't like to grandma around in either of em. But as far as not being a smartarse and answering your question, I'm not sure about the XR8 but my T's useless under 2k but ok to cruise around on. You could get something more suited to your needs for the same cash. In regards to defining the two. (I had a XR8 ute before the 6T)The 8 uses more petrol for no performance gainThe 8 is (feels) way heavier when driving around. The front end seems to have way less response and doesn't like being thrown into the corners as much - IMOThe 8 sounds good, but a modified turbo sounds sexy as. They both drive the same at 2500 rpm - both got nothingOn the highway the 8 uses more petrol again, and for no extra performanceBoth motors are pretty strong and if you’re not flogging them should last yearsOther than that I reckon they are 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Insurance is the other major thing but. I wouldn’t ever swap my 6T for an 8.
Elias Member 109 Member For: 16y 11m 23d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 04/04/08 05:32 AM Author Share Posted 04/04/08 05:32 AM I do like to gun it when I get a chance, but not many chances arise driving in busy times in Melbourne, and when the roads aren't busy, you always wonder whether or not the car parked up ahead has a speed camera hanging off the front bumper. So realistically we are forced to enjoy a cruise and the occasional squirt to the speed limit.Im sure if you guys worked out how often your driving flat out, you will agree that it's not all that often. If it is often, then come and see me in 5 years after you have lost your licence a few times and can't get insurance. I'm simply being alittle realistic about how I drive and which car will suit my needs. Like the rest of you, if I was to buy what I really needed, then I would drive a hyundai. Sometimes we like to buy things simply because we want them and this is one of those times for me

It's got more pull down low.The T is a WAY better car though!Mine has over 300 rear wheel killer wasps, you can have it for $30,000...it's PRISTINE...leather and everything

T has full torque from 2000rpm and 70% of that from 1200rpm. Better fuel consumption and you don't have to see over the bulge in the bonnet. On another side of things, have you thought about a G6E? Basically the same price as an Auto T and a ton more gear, plus great looks and a killer engine in the N/A 4.0L

Just want to make sure I make the right choice. I will be taking them both for a spin when they're released, I'm just paranoid that the difference between them wont be as obvious and that will make it even harder for me to choose, I hope I'm wrong and find that they are like chalk and cheese and I pick one easy. I'm sure you've seen it many times with people like me buying their first brand new car.
