the idea that fear of punishment will stop people from breaking the law is FLAWED... even though that is what they seem to be trying to achieve here...

people committing a crime almost certainly proceed with the crime because they think they will not get caught at the time, otherwise most crimes would cease to exist entirely... only very few would proceed if they knew that they would get cuaght, therefore the fear factor doesnt work.

if the above were not true, then surely the police would have long ago won the war on drugs, paedophilia etc etc... do you think a kiddy fiddler would do it KNOWING he would spend 20 years gaol??? you can not change the beilief that people think they can get away with it on the odd occation, therefore no punishment can ever prevent it entirely.

all it does is push it further underground with further intensity, reduce our civil liberties, and open the door for abuse of the law. History has proven this with things like alcohol and drug prohibition. it doesnt work.

This may be the first true test of the new laws

Massive billboard advertisement on CityLink this morning (spans 4 lanes in width)

DOB IN A HOON 1800 123 456

I wish they'd contracted me to produce all their banner work. Would have made a squillion. Then modded my car. Then hooned around like a fucwit. Proves the hoon advertising doesn't work.

So. For someone who loves the law so much, why are you breaking it with illegal window tint? As far as I'm aware, the darkest legal for a sedan in NSW is 35%.

It's a bit of a worry, which will ultimately prove to be a time wasting exercise. Should be interesting to see how many unmarked police cars end up being "dobbed in" for "hoon" behaviour. I would imagine quite a few.
