"Rebellious II" is an '05 XR6T, M6.

She joined me stock as a rock with 15k on the clock.

Installed some parts of my old ute (Which had 304rwkw), including Unifilter Rampod, ASE Intercooler, and plugs.

Before I picked her up, I had already purchased a full X-Force TBE, 3.5" with the split dump.

Put all the gear on her and she ran well, still on the stock tune.

I then sold the ASE cooler in favor of the Hybrid cooler kit. Purely for the end tank design of the hybrid, and the plumbing provided. I had visions of getting rid of all the crossover plumbing, by cannibalizing the hybrid plumbing to make my own plumbing.

I also bought a Nizpro Airbox and filter kit for the drivers side, and an APS battery tray for the passenger side.

Bought a few silicon joiners of various shapes and sizes (all suited to the plumbing design in my head), and after cutting a few of the hybrid pieces, many late hours, grazed knuckles, and much cursing, I had this:

As you can see I used an N/A 'resonator' to join the plumbing to the T/B. I was told it would never hold the boost and would split. I drove with this setup for some 15k kays (with 12psi boost), without any dramas.

At around the same time I also bought a flashbox with CAPA generic tunes.

I attended the NQ Performance Forums Club dyno day in Townsville, and used it as a chance to check the generic tunes.

On the 8 psi tune the car ran 272 rwkws (showing 12 psi on my gauge). It was running lean (Standard Injectors), but not dangerously so. On the 10psi tune the car ran 282rwkw at around 4800rpm before the run was aborted due to it running dangerously lean.

Keep in mind the car had not been touched by any workshop, and all work was done by myself in my sh*tty carport. (Except the battery wiring. I called a pro to do that. I hate electrics.)

I believe this was, and still is, the highest figures achieved with CAPA generic tunes.

To handle the power I bought a Mal Woods Option 3 clutch, and fitted it with some help from a mate.

The car remained largely unchanged for some 20k kays, till I went to Melbourne in Oct last year, and decided to take the car to see Simon and Dave at Nizpro.

Work to be done by the boys was simple;

Fit items supplied by myself which included:

Eugene injectors (off my old ute)

Atomic Valve Springs

PW Surge tank with 044 pump

Tune the car

Supply and fit:

Wastegate mods

PWR coolant tank

Tein coilovers with EDFC.

But... and there's always a but isn't there??

After seeing the recent results of Nizpros Stage 2 cooler, I decided to add that to the supply and fit list.

Oh, and the Nizpro plenum.

And, the Nizpro rocker cover garnish.

Damn you Simon... You are quite the salesman!!

Sidenote: Just before being dropped off to Nizpro, I had sourced 4 pot Brembos from Cebco Brakes. Hoppers Stoppers fitted them for me.

I also sourced a set of Typhoon 18s to fit over the brakes, and had Falken RT615 semi slicks fitted.

Anyway, picked the car up with a dyno sheet showing 329rwkw at 12psi, with 25rwkw of slip due to the tyres. And a street tune of 290rwkw at 8psi.

Also have inlet temps logged.

12psi tune, ambient temp was 37 degrees. Inlet temp was 42 degrees. Just 5 degrees above ambient. Outstanding!!

8psi tune, ambient temp was again 37degrees. Inlet temp was 39 degrees. 2 degrees above ambient, crazy!

The car drove great.

I gotta say the guys at Nizpro are a great bunch of characters.

A very dedicated team.

So, move ahead 5mths to now. Had some issues with the car. Squeeky suspension, oil leak, and loss of boost control. Boost was hitting in excess of 20psi on the 12 psi tune, and 16 psi on the 8psi tune.

Simon suggested taking it to Jim at Tunehouse to have it checked out.

So the boys carried out a full service, fixed all the problems, found some other problems. And I decided it was just easier to let Jim retune the car from scratch.

I drop in to pick the car up expecting a similar figure to Simon's tune (350 odd accounting for the slip on Simon's dyno). I almost fell over when Jim said he had a little over 370 with some fine tuning left to be done.

An hour later and we have a final figure of 381.6 race tune, 370 street tune, and 340 'bad fuel' tune.

Very impressed by the dyno room at Tunehouse. And Jim's professionalism and enthusiasm is great. A great guy to talk and deal with. Props to the rest of the boys in the shop too. Great bunch of lads.

Sidenote: My WRX will be delivered to Jim in the coming weeks to add some fire to it also.

A week later, and I've dropped in to see Alex at Plazmaman to pick up their hotside piping kit. Another VERY enthusiastic chap is Alex. He checked my I/C inlet and cut and welded the pipe to suit on the spot, before selling it to me. Top bloke. Great service.

Last night I fitted it up. Just had some little issues with the fit to the Nizpro I/C that didn't take me long to sort out.

Can't say I've noticed any difference in the feel of the car since putting the hotside pipes on. But it's nice to know all the plumbing is sorted now.

Next on the list for "Rebellious II" is to sort out the clutch, which is now slipping on the 380rwkw race tune. I'm thinking the friction plate just needs to be rebuilded.

I also have stronger CVs ready to go in, when the stock ones fail.

Other than that the car is great. It is sorted in every aspect now, and I am extremely happy with the drive.

I am running the 340rwkw tune in day to day driving. I will flash the 370rwkw tune for the drags and track work. Not too keen on running the big tune on standard internals, but I will throw it in for a run down the strip. So, we'll see how long the internals last with Jim's tunes. :innocent:

Thanks guys. I'm chuffed that all that writing was appreciated.

Yes, the car is awesome to drive. Quiet and sedate when coasting around. Then with just at the twist of the ankle, it becomes diabolical.

And yes, all on a stock bottom end.

Pat,

I'm yet to hit the track with the XR6. I plan on heading to WSID the week after next. And I hope to head to Wakefield at the end of next month.
