It doesn't really matter what the new setup is like, how many people run high power using the stock intake system?

I have no doubt it will be a better setup but I assume as per usual Ford will only change the bare minimum required to keep the general public happy.

yes people change alot of things when they mod inc the intake system, but only very few chasing huge power change the turbo itself for a bigger unit. my point was, the turbo itself is what limits these cars to high 300rwkw on pump fuel. Now with the new FG falcon and perhaps a smaller turbo, this power will be limited to low 300rwkw.

unless you fork out the extra expense of a new turbo and perhaps associated gear to with then there wont really be a need for plenums, huge intercoolers and big exhausts because the turbo will restrict you... so that means modding to the high 300rwkws, will be alot more expensive. that's the point, and after reading simons (nizpro) post on the turbo in the FG, he seems to think the same thing...

Up until now, one of the best things IMHO about the xr6t is that its so easy and cheap to get big power out of them and no doubt why they are so popular. As it gets more expensive, its more in competition with other cars if you want to modify and have a fast car. For example, you can buy a TT kit for the V8 Late model camira for under $10k. Now if you need to buy a new turbo for the xr6t, along with everythign else, then your probably looking at almost the same sort of money... exept the TT Late model camira will probably make more power than you... see what im getting at here?

but at the same time, if you are gonna get a bigger turbo, you might as well buy a big I <3 Bananas-off turbo and then you can have big I <3 Bananas-off power to match! If you are gonna go big, then really go big!

then your gonna need an engine rebuild with new rods etc...

gone will be the days of 400rwkw, for under $6k in mods...

I've heard some info from a very close friend who knows a guy in Ford (yeah yeah one of those connections). From what he says, it will be difficult to get much more power out of them without changing a fair bit (Simon has already stated that this is his opinion as well). One of the things mentioned is that design wise, piping routes have been minimised so as to make after-market modification difficult to the point where the grinder may be required to fit any thing bigger than stock. Could this be an attempt by Ford to make it obvious that a car has been modified?

I certainly hope that's not the case, but really nothing will be known for sure until they are released and people start heading down the modifying route. No point speculating at this point...
