Well some of you may have seen some of my posts previously in regards to some of the rattles and noises I was expriencing in my gearbox, suspension and all the rest of it. Well today I finally had it all resolved.

I was dealing with President Ford in Elsternwick and had taken my car there twice and recieved my car back both times and told "those rattles are normal but we insulated it and got rid of most of it."

Anyway ill get to the point! I took it to Ethridge Ford today in Ringwood and found their customer service excellent and most helpful. They fixed all the rattles in the suspension, windows, and gear box on the first go. They did happen to leave me a suprise in the front seat which was what President Ford in Elsterwick used to insulate the gear box. It was Spounge that the use to cushion car seats. Unbelievable. This was causing the gear stick to pop out and not engage into gear properly.

Anyway im not sure if this is common practice and acceptable... I highly doubt it. I am sure that I will be in contact with the dearler principle tomorrow to let him know all about it!

I would do everything in my power to make sure that the moron who put that in your gearbox and the people who suggested it were delt with. I really do think you should take that further. You should call Ford head office and explain what happened. What a bunch of knobs.

yeah already made a complaint to ford head office last week. They said they would call me to get an update the day after which is tomorrow. I just thought for good measure id give it to the dealer principle! Get a load off my chest do you know what I mean?

Totally agree. And also remind them that it's proberly service that you recieved is the reason why the sh*tbox holdens are out selling the Fords.

As soon as I heard the name President Ford. I was not surprised, this is a common fix for this particular service department and you would not be the first to have this dealer fitted option. I wouldn't take my wheel barrow in there for a service. They are a bunch of legends.

By the way if you have ever complained about a ticking noise from the LHF and it was fixed without replacing any parts, check for the same addition to your fuel purge solenoid which is found behind your LHF inner wheel plastic trim.

And as queried in the above post, what was the cure for the rollover noise?

the noise from the LHF was exactly that - it was the Fuel purge lid or something or other tapping against the suspension or shocker... I cant remember exactly what he said I still had steam coming out of my ears. As far as the roll over noise it was apparently a loose gear stick that had hand tightended screws. All I know now is that it is so much easier to shift gears.... its smoother... and easier to driver.. its a 200% improvement. They said they have ordered in a special insulation thing they they want to add to further improve it and will call me in when it arrives hopefully next week. When you guys talk about rollover noise and the type of sounds I was hearing I think we may have been talking about two different things. The sounds I was getting was a gear stick that was so loose it was smashing everywhere!

Picked up my car on monday after waiting 7 weeks for my gearbox order to come in at ringwood ford through warranty!

The car now finally after buying it 6 months ago runs smoothly with no ugly gearbox vibrations/shudders and rattles!

Ill have to see how it holds up for the next couple of months if all is good I can finally take it in to have some work done to it!

YAY!

Just goes to show ppl if you brake their balls and dont put up with their crap "that's the chracteristics your gearbox is supposed to have" you can get it right at the end of the day.
