He did however state that the rattle is not fully gone and there is nothing you can do about it as it is normal and I should just enjoy the car.Well no... I dont think so its only 3 months old and it never used to make these rattle sounds.anyway... I just wanted to get any feedback possible from anyone that expriences rattle sounds from their gear stick - I do understand that the transmission does make clunky sounds when changing gears however dont think that the gear stick should vibrate and make rattley sounds that over powers the sound of the engine and the turbo spooling!Cheers,Michael

Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 31/03/08 12:36 AM Share Posted 31/03/08 12:36 AM The noise will progressively get worse as the clearances start to open up. There is no fix for this as these boxes are quite agricultural, especially behind the I6, as the harmonics are so different to the bent 8 which this gearbox was designed for. Do not waste your time getting it replaced, the next one might be worse. Also do not let Ford fit the later BF gearstick, it is rubber insulated and your shifts will be as mushy as they come. Just remember it is Ford built...

That sort of sounds you experience when you crunch a gear or two, but if that happened you would notice it.

I get the rumble when at really low revs but other than that its fine. Try another dealer
