Mine is abouty 180f when normal driving, When going hard it can go well over 220f. Oil temp guage is good as it gives you a decent idea of how hard the car is being worked, unlike the water guage which stays pretty stable.

I have seen mine peak at 110 but usually sits around the 80-90c mark.

I agree with adam, I also notice with mine, when the water temp reaches just over 1/4 the oil can still be at around 50c... if I give my car a boot full at this point oil pressure goes very high.... this could be additional stress on components... myself, id rather wait until my oil temp had risen OR pressure had come down while at cruising speeds before I give it some

All in all I find both oil gauges as useful as the other

cheers

Cameron

If your engine is still cold, the oil pressure tends to be higher.

The oil pressure is high when cold because the oil is thick and drops as it gets hot when the oil is thinner.

Engine protection isn't just related to oil pressure/temp. A good synthetic oil will work well even at low oil temp.

I'd be more worried about the oil pressure being low .
