Just did this mod today in my '09 FG, sooo easy! 5 minute job. 1 bung, 1 mini pod and 1 clamp. Sound difference is very noticeable (pschhh), car runs no differently. Also bought the rip off kompact bov, will try that when it arrives! Thanks for the info guys!

Just installed the rip off kompact (vent to atmo) but the $15.00 mini breather gets the cake! It's louder, cheaper and gives a better sound. Might tinker around and see if I can get some different noises.

Have you tried blocking it fully? Use to think that too mate, have done both on mine but I swear it runs way better with a full blocked bov (and is louder) then with the hole drilled in it. Have no idea why but that's just my experience. Someone explained it in this thread I think.

Not really any positive in performance for an auto but atmo bovs are designed to keep boost up during gear changes on a manual cars so if there was to be any benefit it would be in that scenario.

Can you post a pic of this set up buddy

Hey guys,

I did this last night, and it just sounds like I've blocked off the BOV as opposed to venting it.

I used the filter below...It seems to be filled with foam as opposed to a 'pod' filter so my guess is this pain in tha a** thing doesnt let enough air through...

thoughts?

I couldnt find one of the filters from the original post? only little pods with an inlet too small, not the 25mm.

cheers.

Thanks Bellato.

I saw this one there but the end of it looked to be small, 25mm outside diameter instead of inside...

Though looking at Paddle's image above he used some of the hose to connect up to it? I think haha.

Its definitely got a 25mm inside diameter cause that's what's on my car. I do have an FG though so there could be a difference in size. Either way you could do what Paddie did anyway. Either way that's the right filter your after.

Should be $15 for filter, $5 for a couple of 20-30mm clamps and a 25mm chair rubber for like $1. Do it properly and you'll get a pssshhh sound
