This is why, in my opinion Expensive Daewoo have taken a major lead over Ford. Expensive Daewoo look after their current customers AND future customers.

you can go to Expensive Daewoo dealer and buy a used Expensive Daewoo with a full 3yr/100,000km Expensive Daewoo warrenty and be treated just like you were buying a new car. Now where do think this customer is going to go when he is able to afford a new car?

Ford have an absolutely useless used market, it's generally just some cheesy yard next to the dealer run by your traditional used car salesman.

I have had my car serviced by Alto Ford in Artarmon Sydney.

No complaints at all.

In fact they attended to a leak under warranty without question.

Will continue to use them.

If the attitude changes, and I get grief, then time to look elsewhere.

So far so good.

Has anyone had any experience with that Expensive Daewoo Certified shenanigans? Is it actually like a new car warranty, or a glossed-up :spacecraft: like most used car warranties?

A mate of mine bought an $80k Nissan Patrol and he has had to fight with them for 18 months about an engine that is using oil.

The front 2 cylinders had 125 psi compression and the back 4 had 185 psi. They told him it was within limits....WTF....yeah 2 sets of cylinders in the same engine.....some low compression, some high.

They then agreed to replace the engine. He then found out the "new" engine is not even new as such. And the "new" engine is using oil as well, just not so much of it!!!!!

Good service Nissan.

I had my brand new xr6 bf ute for a total of 4 months, I went to take off at the lights and my clutch exploded and shatterd out through the bellhousing onto the ground. found out later it had a fault in the compression plate. got the ute back to the ford dealer I bought from and they wouldnt touch it because it was under the classification of a wear and tear item. I had to take it to a good mate who is a mechanic and it got installed a extra heavy duty clutch in it. all the damage cost me over $2500.. which I did not have..

Ford service really needs to pick up their game, but there are many problems that aren't their fault to begin with. Like with the BAs having brade shudder, driveline shunt, handbrake swoosh, all design problems which can't be easily rectified and most have continued onto the BF and possibly FG. The unfortunate part is that Ford must really give little support to dealer service to fix warranty problems. I've had 2 different dealers try and fix warranty problems and they only do half the job, lie about what they did and then say I should have bought the car from them in the first place to receive good service. I kid you not! I had my local dealer eventually blame handbrake swoosh on warped discs which of course weren't covered. Then they skimp on regular servicing like tightening manifold bolts etc. Makes my blood boil when they so obvious want to fob you off.

I did the new car experience once buying a Proton Satria Gti once and that was just as bad, mostly because Proton don't actually have a service dept! They used Ultratune/Kmart and some Nissan dealers who aren't given enough info and training on the cars to begin with. It was a great car but had lots of fiddly problems with fit and finish and I just kept going back and back to fix. Really needed a lemon law for that car.

On the other hand I've had great experience with Toyota service on a work car and they care so much, they ring you to come in for a service, go over the car with a fine tooth comb and have an excellent and reliable product to begin with. I've heard the same about Suburu.

So Ford Australia need to pick up their quality in local design and manufacturing and then back it up properly with excellent after sales service. Plain and simple. Then they should advertise they have the best servicing and stand by that. I'm sure their sales would pick up alot.

In my experience.. just keep away from ford.

Even when I used them for servicing I notices scratch marks here n there.

Now if I have any issues I just get my non ford mechanic to look at it.

Its a shame because there are people out there that buy new specifically for the "new car warranty".

Personally I'm never going to buy a new ford.

It's not just Ford.

My parents and I have owned an example quite a few different brands over the years, and they all offer lousy service and warranty work. Your best bet with all new cars is have them serviced through a reputable mechanic.

I only ever go to the dealership to buy a car, trade a car or warranty work.
