I had the AVG consumption reading below 8 litres/100k the other day on the highway!!

Normally I can get it down to 9.  One trick is stay a little below 100k as the turbo starts to cause consumption to go up at about 2000 rpm - which is about 100kph in 4th gear in my auto.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I tried that today and you are spot on.

At 98kmh the engine is doing 1950 rpm and is showing around 9 L per 100k and at 105 kmh its doing 10-11 L per 100k.

:spoton:

Did a 300km trip on the weekend, (Bridgetown to Perth), cruise control on 115km/hr, air con on and flooring it in 3rd or 4th at every overtaking opportunity. Got 10.1 l/100km by the trip meter and confirmed with 10.2 l/100km with a refill. It was a 27 degree day - possible tail wind

Funnily enough, on the way there, same driving style, I got 11.2 L/100km. It was 37 degrees that day and there may have been a head wind. I'm still stoked though as my consumption around town ranges from 13.5 l/100km (normal driving, occasional fang) to 17 l/100 (fanging it, occasionally normal)

I'd like to know if piggybacks or edit (say to 8psi) improve this to (obviously if you're not using the extra power all the time)

Drag is proportional to the square of the speed so you would expect a big difference between the fuel used at 95 to 105km/h

95 *95 = 9025           ie 9 litres / 100km

105 * 105 = 11025     ie 11 litres/100km

Err, you can't just square kilometres per hour and get litres per 100km, the units are all wrong, and anyway, by that logic, 150 k/h would suck 22.5 litres/100km, and at 60 k/h you get 3.6 litres/100km

The standard tunes in the EDIT flashbox appear to be running richer than stock. I have found that my fuel consumption has increased since the EDIT, even when taking into account the fanging factor.

This will change once the car has been custom tuned to better A/F ratios.

Only suggestion on fuel consumption is Ford should have put a bigger tank in it, filling it up every 2-3 days becomes annoying.

Hhhmmmmm, I AGREE also. :spoton:

My average is now down to about 13.5l/100km

Guages, gadgets and read outs are interesting, BUT :w00t2:

I still believe the old method of run the tank down to E, do a full re-fill, reset the tripmeter to 0, then on the next refill you will see how much fuel and K's you are using per tank.

Hi Guys

Just wondering what sought of fuel usage is common in the T. I am averaging around 18l/100km around town and about 12l/100km highway. Does this sound about right considering only 2200 kms on the clock?

Without reading the rest of the replies and risking a flaming :spoton: , I'll add my observations:

Prior to 15,000km Service: City 13.6 l/100km (pump) outer suburbs mainly. Highway 11.3 l/100km (pump)

After 15,000km Service: Highway 10.1 l/100km (pump) cruising 115km/h on Speedo (112km/h real world). City Cycle, I don't know yet.
