harasn Used to work at the Ford Proving Ground! Lifetime Members 306 Member For: 21y 10m 8d Gender: Male Location: Geelong Posted 08/06/04 07:30 AM Share Posted 08/06/04 07:30 AM I reset the trip computer every tank full of fuel I put in! The more kms you do between resetting the trip meter, the less it will be inclined to move! If you reset it then watch it it will move fast and as the more kms you do the slower it gets! if you leave it for months before reseting then don't bother worrying about the reading as it wont be real! I record fuel used and kms done for each tank and in my last BA XR NA I averaged 11.27 litres per 100km/s over 17,000kms! pretty good! the trip computer will always be worse than real fuel used to!I have the T now but haven't run a full tank through it yet! will let you know by the end of the week! Some of the guys have noticed by putting the GT airbox and the twin intake onto the turbo you basically get similar fuel economy toan NA when not flooring it all the time! Sounds right to me as that's what this current tank is saying so far, its similar to the NA XR;s! I used to get over 500kms a tank with an average speed of 45-50km/h by the trip computer! reset it each tank full and then work it all out! very interesting! Mind you most of the driving is off-peak/semi-country. I wouldn't say I drive like a granny - I enjoy the regular squirt on the right pedal - company permitting (times when the war-office is not in the passengers seat). Guest BennyXRT Guests Posted 10/06/04 08:34 AM Share Posted 10/06/04 08:34 AM (edited) Ok, I know fuel consumption has been discussed before, but this has been buggin me for a while:Firstly, I own a manual and my average fuel consumption is usually around 14-15L/100kms. My driving style is fairly normal - usually change gears around 2,500 - 3,500rpm, but I usually give it a bit of stick at least once every drive. My question is what sort of fuel consumption are the auto XR6T drivers (with the same driving style) getting? Is there any difference? What is the norm for auto and manual? Also, when cruising along the highway doing 110km/hr my XR revs around 2,250rpm in fifth gear, and it seems like the car needs another gear. What RPM do the auto's sit on when cruising at that speed??Ben Edited 10/06/04 08:35 AM by BennyXRT

Guest dingah Guests Posted 10/06/04 09:46 AM Share Posted 10/06/04 09:46 AM No notable difference between your figures and mine. 15 in town and 10 on highway, revs the same.Dingah
Guest Scootre Guests Posted 13/06/04 10:25 PM Share Posted 13/06/04 10:25 PM Firstly, I own a manual and my average fuel consumption is usually around 14-15L/100kms. My driving style is fairly normal - usually change gears around 2,500 - 3,500rpm, but I usually give it a bit of stick at least once every drive. I drive much the same way with much of my Kms done between home and work (40km each way, in moderate traffic). In my Auto T, I get about 16.4L / 100K driving mostly in Auto. But this past few weeks I have been driving using the tiptronic and noticed I am now averaging 16.7 and rising. This, however, will also be due to me giving it a bit more of a squirt here and there.
