Thanks All.

I am mainly (95%) do country driving (Camden to Canberra) so these are interesting results. I am gettung about 10L/100KM on my XR5 so there will not be a huge difference when I change to an XR6 late this year !

Hi Guys,

My FG XR6T has 17,000 on the clock now.

The car runs from in the high 12's (L/100 kms) to low 13's running around Sydney using rat runs to avoid tolls. It dips into the 11's once in a while.

If I want to boast about open road economy, I quote figures achieved on the Hume. It's double lane so there's no need to jump back 3 gears to zip past B Doubles. The car returned 8.5 L/100 km's on a run to Melbourne and back.

I filled the tank on the road back from Coffs and zero'd the economy readout at the same time. I turned straight into an 80 km/h roadwwork speed zone that lasted for heaps - maybe 10 - 20 km's. The car was sitting on 7.2 l/100 kms at 80 km/h.

The car was running around the 12's from new. Bleeding obvious I know, but driving style has something to do with economy. If the guy in front slows and there's an empty lane, I'll swap lanes (with safety) to avoid braking.

FG XR6T UTE 2010 FEB BUILD...

12kms on the clock from new, had a 1/4 of a tank of dealership fuel. I asked them not to fill it with any more than what was nessesary for the test drive because I wanted 98 put in there. Got 622k's out of 65.4ltrs on the first tank, read out said 10.9. I ran my car in pretty hard, "accerdently" redlined it a few times and took a few mates for a spin so that may have had an effect on some of my driving habbits. A couple of skids here and there. So far pretty impressed, my driving is 60% suburbs, and streets around the out skirtz of adelaide, and 40% 90kmph+ roads.

The ute uses about 9 ltrs instant readout when in 6 gear, gennerly doesnt change from 80 right up to 110 this is without the tarp over the back.

It uses some were around mid 7's with the tarp on, also the car is considarble quicker at 60k+ with the tarp on.

5th gear at about 60ks, instant is around the 6ltrs mark. Doesnt really change with tarp on or off but this is were it starts.

How low of revs while cruising is bad for the engine, at 80 in 6 the revs are around 1200 mark. Is this to low for long straight roads?

THIS IS ALL DONE WITH CLIMATE CONTROL ON...
