I was avg 14.2 and about 450kms a tank.. Then I got a service, fixed a broken turbo bolt, and now I get 12.5 and around 600kms a tank.. Im wrapped to say the least.. I do mainly city/suburb driving with the odd freeway here and there(weekends)

Hey all.. atm my 05 BA MKII XR6T runs an average of about 14.9-15.3/100. gets around about 350km's a tank. I use 98 high octane, which brought down my fuel consumption from once being 17.9km/100. I have a full Xforce high flow cat system, and also a Front mount cooler tuned to 304.1 kw's. I was wandering what other forms of modifications could be undertaken to reduce or bring down my fuel usage? I drive her fairly hard now and then but also do the respectable thing by her and give it a break at times. Any information would be appreciated.

cheers

S.S

I think you could squeeze out more fuel economy if you really tried. If you shift into neutral while moving along a down slope at 100km/h, your instaneous fuel reading can drop to as low as 2L/100km. Suck on that, Prius owners.

on the drive from Brisbane (where I bought the car) to Sydney, the AVG went from 14.4l/100 down to 9.5l/100 and was still going down. I didn't read the book til I got home or else I would have reset the trip computer for a strictly highway AVG. Its got 26000kms on it.

Around town I'm now getting 13.5l/100 AVG.

When I first picked up my FG at christmas 08 with mostly city driving and zipping around the place, I was getting 16-18 lt/100 klm .....now at around 6000klm with city driving all week and a drive to Glasshouse Mountains every saturday, I'm sitting stable at 12.3 - 12.6 (avg 12.4) lt/100 klm. My estimate is (based on my style of driving) total city driving = 12.6 lt/100 klm, total highway = 12.0 or a tad under with an evenly mixed cycle at around 12.4.

Happy with that. :drivingalong:

I used to average 14.2 (mixed suburb/freeway) until my last 45,000klm service, where now I average 15.2. What the???

I haven't taken it back yet to Ford, but I suspect something has been changed...and not for the better..!
