I have averaged a fairly consistant 14.7 l/100km in my '04 BA XR6T auto sedan around the city in Melbourne since buying it in Oct '06. Checking at every fill and comparing with the trip computer showed that its almost spot on accurate (0.1-0.2 diff at worst). A recent cruise to Ballarat return saw 10.9 l/100km which was impressive. However when Eastlink opened 3 weeks back with no tolls, the traffic jams on the Eastern Fwy and Hoddle St, saw that increase to 15.5-16 l/100km for my last couple of fills. That was entirely attributed to sitting there stationary and burning precious 95 oct not going anywhere.

So if any of you out there feel that your driving habits haven't changed, take note of how long you've been sitting stationary in traffic, which is quite inefficient for the T.

BTW I have not noticed any improvement in economy by running 98 octane. However the improvement in performance is noticable, especially with the T loaded with people. For me its probably not worth spending the extra for it.

My 2004 BA XR6T gets around 14.8 to 15.2 in the city and 9.9 on the freeway. I pick up my new GF XR6T on Wednesday and from all reports they tell me that it will be better. Realistically, I don't care so long as the power output claims are right.

Hey Guys,

I have a Manual Sedan XR6T

600klm

With trip computer reset, Highway klm @ 100klm hr 7.8lt Average!!!! I know of small 4cyl cars that cant get that.

The trick is dont use the A/C unless you realy have too. Keep things you dont realy need in the car at home=less weight.

I now have over 1000klm so I hope it even better again next time I check.

Hi guys,

I have an XR6T with 6A.

About 1600km's on the clock.

Getting about the 13.3 range with a fair bit of stop start driving.

On freeway I average below 10 comfortably.

Cheers!

Jonesy

Now done 2500km and last fill up

I got 11.5lt/100km. It's getting better and better so much more fuel efficient than the BA. What a car.

Wait til these things are run in with about 15000km on them....low 10's here we come. You can keep your 4 cylinders

Obviously I've gotta get a tune!. Just ticked over 3,200 k's and I'm happy with highway figures @ <10l/100klms, but struggle to do better than17.5l/100klms around town. Mon - Fri driving in peak hour on Dandy rd to the City probably doesn't help. Most driving is done in perf mode and in manual mode about 20% time. On full auto, consumption is high 18's to mid 19's. Not real happy as I don't flog it much at all.

I just drove from Brisbane to Newcastle down the coast road via Coffs Harbour then came back from Newcastle via the inland road through Tamworth then cut across from Glen Innes down the Gwydir Hwy to Grafton then back up the coast road through Tweed Heads into Brisbane. All up the trip was about 1980Kms and I reset all the trip metres to zero before I left. I averaged 10.9L/100 for the whole trip, but was well under 10L/100 until I got to the Gwydir Hwy. If anyone gets out that way at all I couldnt stress how good this road was, I had a smile from ear to ear the whole time and was almost tempted to do a u turn at the end and do it again in reverse. I really did give the car a bit down this road wich was about 160Kms long and it really lifted the fuel consumption and I was also a bit heavy footed for the reast of the way back to Brisbane. Im in a 6sp Manual and have now reached 6900Kms so due for the first service, but I can say as I got closer to home I just wanted to keep going. This car is a pleasure to drive!! Maybe in the next week or two ill try Brisbane to Cairns and back, I just cant get enough of driving this car.
